It is very possible that there may be ten’s of thousands of tones Facts about goldof gold in the world that has not been found yet.  Two thirds of the worlds gold supply is from South Africa.  The USA also has large amounts of gold that can be found in South Dakota and Nevada.  Other states in the US can produce gold as well but this two states seem to have produced more.
Some other mining areas in the world are Canada and Russia.  Gold can be found in sea water too but as for now there does not seem to be a very economic way of the getting the gold out of the sea.  Records show that close to 2500 tons of gold is mined per year worldwide. 
When gold is mined it comes from gravels and quartz veins and can be associated with pyrites deposits too.  Gold is widely distributes on the earth at a background level of 0.03 g/1000 kg (0.03 ppm by weight).  When talking cart weights in gold this is the amount of gold present in jewelry.  24 carats can be described as pure gold.  Any number less than 24 carats have been mixed with some other metal which is called alloy.
Jewelry has about 75% of all of the gold found so far in the world.  There are times when you might see gold come in different colors. Colloidal gold is added to glass to color it red or purple.  If you don’t need any more jewelry then gold has also be used in electronics, and bouillon or cold coins.
